Awesome: Met Museum Now Offers Live Music and Drinks On Special Date Nights

Does the perfect date night exist?

It sure does now — thanks to The Met!

Date night is never out of style. And if you are constantly on the lookout for creative ways to impress your spouse or to do something fun, this might be the most unique experience out there. The Metropolitan Museum of Art's new "Date Nights" will give visitors an opportunity to become acquainted with artwork with informal drop in gallery chats and the chance to listen to live music while sipping on cocktails.

These "Date Nights", held every Friday and Saturday Nights in the American Wing Cafe from 5pm-9pm, started February 18th.

Forget streaming on the couch, it’s time to go out!”

“We are long overdue for a great date night in New York. The soaring spaces and hundreds of galleries at The Met are even more spectacular and romantic at night. New Yorkers can always pay what they wish for admission, so it’s truly the best date in town.

— Ken Weine | The museum's vice president of External Affairs and chief communications officer

There is literally no excuse to not go out on a date now.

Next month in March, performances will include contemporary string quartet ETHEL in the American Wing Cafe as well as a special edition of Juilliard's ChamberFest featuring performances in the European Painting galleries. How cool is that?!
Make it a night out with The Met's buy one get one drink special and light bites to snack from too. More information can be found here at www.metmuseum.org/datenight. The date nights come with museum admission, which is always what you wish to pay for New York State residents and NY, NJ, and CT students with valid ID.

Fantastic news, right?
