Originally from Houston, Texas, Mike Moreno began studying music formally at the Houston High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, a school renowned for its musical alumni, which includes such luminaries as Jason Moran, Robert Glasper, Kendrick Scott and Eric Harland.
Over the years he has built a name as on of the leading voices on his instrument, touring the world performing with bands led by Joshua Redman, Stefon Harris, Lizz Wright, Nicholas Payton, Me’Shell N’Degeocello, Jason Moran, Terence Blanchard, Robert Glasper, Gretchen Parlato, Aaron Parks, Greg Osby, Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra, and Jeff “Tain” Watts.
With his own projects Moreno has toured and recorded his original music with high critical acclaim. Nate Chinen of the New York Times and Jazztimes Magazine describes “There are many other guitarists out there pushing towards a modern ideal, but none with the precise coordinates that Mike Moreno has charted.”
In 2007, Moreno released his debut recording as a leader Between The Lines, which Nate Chinen deemed in The New York Times as one of his top 10 Jazz albums of 2007. He recorded his second and third album, Third Wish (2008), and First In Mind (2011) for iconic European Jazz label Criss-Cross Records. Mike returned to producing his records on his own with World Culture Music for Another Way (2012), which was chosen by iTunes for the Best of 2012 list and Lotus (2016). Moreno’s latest release is 3 for 3 (2018), a trio album which marked a return to Criss Cross Records for his final recording for them.

The musical host, founder & producer of Jazzystan Music Festival (Since 2009). Having started his 6 hrs weekly radio shows back in 2001, the broadcast naturally translated into weekly dance sessions and the biggest international music festival in Central Asia. Rustam has produced 28 Festivals over 10 years in Kazakhstan (2009-2019). He initiated, booked and produced live acts of artists like Jamiroquai, Incognito, Marcos Valle, Jazzanova, Omar, Gilles Peterson, Lefto, Nubya Garcia, EZRA Collective to name a few. His DJ sets have taken him all over the world: from music festivals like Worldwide (France), Cully Jazz (Switzerland), Southern Soul (Montenegro), Terraneo (Croatia), Nis Jazz (Serbia) to numerous gigs worldwide. He hosted the nights at Public Records, Le Bain, Good Room, Le Poisson Rouge (LPR), Ace Hotel, Last Light, Public, Soho Grand Hotel, Black Flamingo, Magick City, Milagrosa, Jupiter Disco, Brooklyn Bowl, Mad Tropical, Rose Gold, Alphaville, Nublu, Studio 151, Soul In The Horn Party. Rustam gathers all the deepest soul sounds from around the world and elegantly delivers them in gorgeous musical journeys. Hailing from Kazakhstan, his creative goal has always been to expose diverse music to people through the curation of special events, live concerts and radio shows. Now that Rustam lives in New York City, he has become a polished and versatile DJ who is as comfortable playing a dark underground house party as he is at an upscale hotel bar. Rustam possesses a record collection that has a unique worldview - every song he plays has a beautiful deep sound and a dynamic rhythmic beat that fills a room with warm and upbeat energy. Crowds might not know what he’s playing, but they will know that it is the right sound for a magical moment in New York City.
